We are setting up our Forecast and we have one manager who oversees SMB and MM we’d like for these to be separate for multiple reasons as of now they are all under that managers team. Is there a way to create teams without having it roll up to a manager or another work around? Thank you for your help in advance!

Hey @Tristan Reinhard, good question! Tagging in @Sahil Vasudev for some guidance here :)

Thanks for looping me in, @Molly Kipnis! @Tristan Reinhard, it’s great to connect with you.

While we work on productizing support for team-based hierarchies, I recommend a temporary workaround: creating two dummy users (e.g., "SMB Team" and "MM Team") under the single manager via the team members page.

For instance, individual contributors (ICs) would roll up to their respective dummy users ("SMB Team" and "MM Team"), and both dummy users would, in turn, roll up to a single manager, Alex Smith.

Alex Smith can update the MM and SMB Team’s Target and other Forecast columns as needed, acting as the manager for that subteam. This approach will seamlessly consolidate the forecasts from the two dummy managers into their own forecast.

This workaround effectively addresses the issue with the two teams, but it comes with a tradeoff worth noting. It could impact other areas of the platform, particularly the Coaching metrics for managers. This is because all individual contributors (ICs) are assigned to the two team dummy users instead of their actual manager.

Let me know if you have any additional questions! Happy to help 😁

Yeah, that is the work around I came up with as well since posting. However, my manager who used Gong previously, still thought there was a cleaner way to do it. Thank you for your help and the detailed response!

You're welcome! I'm glad the workaround aligns with what you came up with. This would be the best option, but stay tuned! We have improvements coming soon within the next year.
