How do we extract email opens / clicks / bounce data from Engage?

Is there a way to do this either through a CRM integration or via the Gong API?

Hey @jackatdisplayr!

Tagging in @Brandon James and @Carly Lohnberg for some help here.

Also, we have a group for Engage users that you are welcome to join! Lots of great best practices and updates here: https://visioneers.gong.io/groups/gong-engage-81

Good question, @jackatdisplayr !  Engage can export activity data to your CRM as well as flow fields.  Email bounce and open data can be found in the CSV export from the Engage Analytics page.  Any admin can navigate to Engage Analytics and click to download the data.  Hope this helps!

@Carly Lohnberg OK thanks this gives the data we need.

Anyway to automate this as of now?  Or do we have to manually download this on a cadence and then import the results in Salesforce (mapping on Gong__Gong_Activity_Id__c)?

@jackatdisplayr There’s no current way to automate it unfortunately.  I definitely encourage you to look through all the fields and activity Engage can export directly to Salesforce.  But it it’s not included, it will have to be uploaded manually.

OK thanks.  Is this an idea somewhere I can vote for?  Even if we had to DIY develop an api call to extract it automatically that would be more ideal.

You can always ask your CSM to make a feature request on your behalf.  It will help to provide them with a specific use case you’re trying to accomplish as well.  I don’t believe there’s any custom way to handle this right now but you may be able to use something like Zapier.  Sorry I can’t be of more help!

I’ve streamlined this process using our Displayr product.

It’s manual, so not real time, but works

  1. Download the file from Gong Engage > Analytics > Performance
  2. Using Displayr I merge that Gong export file data with Salesforce task data
  3. Then I export that into a csv file
  4. With the file in step 3, update the custom fields in Task object (email opens / clicks / bounced)

I may build an api from Displayr to Salesforce to automate step 4.  But since step 1 is already manual it currently doesn’t feel worth the effort.
