Question

How do I extract transcripts from my calls?

I want to be able to summarize the calls that my team is having and have that summary sent to me. I’ve been try to figure out a way to export all the call transcripts for specific team members, and then have set up an automation using Zapier and a custom GPT that should process this transcript and send me the summary to Slack.

I’m stuck at step 1, where I cannot find a way to extract the transcript for a gong call. Have folks successfully achieved this?

Hi @Ryan Lalkaka! Let me ask the team if they’ve seen this before — will get back to you ASAP!

Hi again @Ryan Lalkaka!

I’m curious — why do you want to run the transcript through GPT instead of using Gong’s Call Summary? You mentioned a custom GPT, wondering if there are additional layers there.

Also, we can only send transcripts to group Slack channels, not individual Slack users.

Molly I’m interested in the same thing.

To answer your question, We have multiple segments in our business.

What I want to do is run a couple years worth of transcripts through a GPT to evaluate the difference in language or vocabulary between the segments to then help better inform our advertising headlines, social media posts, etc.

My suspicion lately is that there are some key differences in tone and words being used between these segments. Gong call transcripts is the best library of data of what customers actually say.

Like Ryan, what I’m unsure how to do is “export all” with regards to the transcripts. Will I need to iteratively go to each gong call one by one and export?

@Kris Gosser makes sense!

The only way to pull transcripts is via our API — you can access the API documentation if you are a technical admin by going to company settings > API in Gong.

@Molly Kipnis Sorry for disappearing! Long weekend in Canada…

It sounds like the API is the way to go. I’ll dig into that and try to make this happen.

WRT to question above: I basically want to do something similar to Kris above. Want to take my transcripts and run it through a GPT to extract specific pieces in the transcript which have positive or constructive feedback for the product.

It will also be used to extract quotes that revenue can use as testimonies if helpful in different situations.

The Gong summary does not do this. Its great, but not what I need.

Hope this helps! Thank you for the help. I’ll look into the API.
