Only Import Specific Account Record Types

We have a number of different account record types:

  • Client (roughly 100)
  • Client Subgroup (multiple thousands)
  • Vendor
  • Potential Client

But, we only want to import and be able to automatically associate to the Client and Potential Client account record types. When searching in Gong, ALL of our accounts pop up, including some with potential confusing naming conventions without the rest of the record context like you’d have when searching Salesforce.

Is there a way to filter which accounts get brought into Gong? None of the default CRM Settings seem intuitive to be able to do this.

Thanks in advance!

You’re right that the CRM Settings UI doesn’t let you choose Account record types directly—but we can do this for you.

Ask Support ( File a ticket here> https://contact.gong.io/hc/en-us/requests/new)  (or ask your RA) to apply a Salesforce WHERE clause on the Account object so that only Accounts whose Record Type = Client or Potential Client are imported into Gong. That way, Client Subgroup and Vendor accounts won’t come into Gong at all, so they won’t appear in search or association dropdowns.

When you open the ticket, include:

  • Your Gong org URL
  • The RecordTypeIds/API names for Client and Potential Client (and mention you want other Account record types excluded).
