Our team would prefer to have Gong bot as a participant on recordings but we are using the native Zoom recording integration. Is it possible to still have Notetaker appear on the call?
Hi
I’ve pinged our team for some thoughts on this one — you should hear back very shortly!
We appreciate your patience
Hi
It is possible for your company to turn off native recording and leverage the recording bot with Zoom meetings. However, using native Zoom comes with a lot of advantages that might want to consider including:
- The highest quality audio and video recording possible.
- Uses Zoom’s customizable consent options, without the need for a separate consent flow.
- Zoom’s recording prompt plays privately for each participant.
- Meeting participants see an on-screen “Recording” indication
- The call host can control the recording to stop, start, and pause as needed
- Bring public Zoom chat messages into Gong
- Use Gong app for Zoom to make comments and collaborate during the call
A technical admin at your organization would be able to adjust zoom recording settings.
Thank you!
Hi
If I understand your need correctly - you’re looking to disable Native Zoom just for a single team? Or are you looking to do that across all Zoom calls?
For all calls - you can just disable the functionality as
For one single team - you can create a User Group in Zoom, and disable & lock the ability to auto-record Zoom calls for that group, thus preventing Gong from enabling NZR for all Zoom calls hosted by that set of users.
Please ping me if you have any further questions or feedback!

Our Customer Success have benefited from the quality of recordings that the native integration offers but they haven’t found much value in sending an email consent or form consent prior to customer calls.
We wanted to explore the option to always have the Gong Bot appear on the call when its recording because its easier for our team to acknowledge the recording taken place, and also adds value by demonstrating to the customer that the team is having a designated bot taking notes on the call.
So, just out of curiosity, even if we add assistant@gong.io to the call, the bot won’t appear because of the native zoom settings, correct?
Appreciate your time!
The consent email can be disabled, regardless of whether or not the call is recorded with Native Zoom. (Unless you’re talking about the native Zoom disclaimer. )
To disable Native Zoom, you can go ahead and do that on the Zoom Integration page. Like I said, I would love to understand the “why” it a bit further.
In addition, adding assistant@gong.io will try to record natively, if Native Zoom is enabled. The bot will join only if Native Zoom cannot be enabled due to the host of the call not being a licensed user in your Zoom account.
Hope this helps :)
