This training was very useful. I’m very much looking forward to implementing some of the coaching best practices and strategies for our sales teams taught in this course. The trackers also seem very valuable to track new strategic initiatives and competitor mentions.

For any new program managers implementing Gong, I would recommend to be mindful of how you configure the settings and workspaces so that you create a scalable system that won’t have to be recreated or changed too much as you grow.

Some feedback: the assessment was too long and difficult, and tested knowledge that I didn’t think was too relevant to remember. A better assessment would be practical application and use of the tool.

One of the most important things I learned during this Launch Certification is how customizable Gong is for your business. There is incredible potential to uncover trends, risks, and potential you didn’t even know existed. Knowing and understanding what your goals are and knowing how Gong can uncover those insights for you is very powerful

A piece of advice for a new Program Manager who is implementing Gong would be to leverage all the  resources Gong has to offer, such as the  Academy, Community, and Help center. The support staff has always been so incredibly helpful!

    1. I learned more about the admin settings and what I can accomplish in my role. I do think that the structure of the questions need to be rethought out; there are FAR too many words/confusing choices of words within the questions themselves.

    1. ​​​​​​​Establish a good relationship with your CSM, they’ll be your new best friend for a while :)

What is the most important thing you learned during this Launch Certification? 

Way too much!  It really was a fantastic learning journey and will continue to be, since you never stop learning all the gadgets and tools to apply to enhance the teams coaching skills, forecasting accurately and above all ongoing learning from each other.  Above all, when the team works towards improving TOGETHER, amazing things can be accomplished.  

 

What is your #1 piece of advice for a new Program Manager who is implementing Gong?
The most important take away from becoming a Gong Program manager is to make a very thought out plan on how to implement Gong into your company and communicate that WELL. Get your team members onboard and plan out who will be tasked with the various setups and ongoing maintenance.  Think once you have all the Key players on board you can actually apply most of all the benefits of this wonderful tool.

My Answer:  Make sure everyone is on board from the start, from the frontline managers to the c-suite, including having prep meetings and clear goals on the timelines, a willing Pilot team of grade-A users, and sufficient time to analyze all needed setups for various integrations.

  1. I learned that Gong is like a swiss army knife in it’s ability to deliver so many different types of insights. While there may be a few features that are more commonly known and used, if you explore the full potential of revenue intelligence, you’ll really see exponential impact on it’s ability to deliver value to your business.
  2. My #1 piece of advice for PMs is to really focus on establishing a COE for a smooth deployment. Collaboration is key. Everything from identifying key stakeholders and their responsibilities, to creating a communication plan, to configuring all the technical setup takes planning and insight from all parties involved.

What is the most important thing you learned during this Launch Certification?

 

I am covering the Tech Stack for a Global Organization and my biggest concern is always remaining complaint with local legal guidelines. The ability to adjust consent settings for different regions really help put my mind at ease and gain a sense of comfort and trust with Gong.

What is your #1 piece of advice for a new Program Manager who is implementing Gong?

I learned that it pays to walk through the certifications and related resources.  It gives you a full picture of all the roles needed to successfully implement Gong.  Without it, you may be focused on specific roles or tasks and not have the correct people involved.  The end users will appreciate the time and effort to make it seamless to adopt.

Some of the most important things I learned during this course were surrounding coaching best practices, and how to leverage Gong’s tools to actually impact metrics for the team. My company has been working on developing a “coaching toolkit”, and implementing scorecards, better libraries, and follow-up is going to be incredibly impactful for our org. 

 

For new Program Managers implementing Gong, I would definitely say that following Gong’s rollout strategy and focusing on the “why” is super important, in addition to getting early buy-in from upper level managers and execs.

The biggest thing I took away from the Launch Certification is that having a clear plan in place is the most important factor to a successful rollout of Gong. You need to have a clear plan about your goals, who is involved and responsible for what, your communication plan, and how you will track progress. This certification has given me some great templates to use for other rollouts outside of Gong as well to make sure every kickoff is set up for success.

I loved going through the course and learning more about the endless resources provided to us from Gong and the Gong community! Anything you need help with Gong has the resources readily prepared to get you up to speed. In the circumstance that you can’t find what you need, their support team is quick in getting issues resolved and logging enhancement requests.

 

To anyone ramping up with Gong, I highly recommend you follow the Gong COE guidelines to ensure success of the platform from the very beginning. Get the appropriate stakeholders involved, have the right conversations, and check all the boxes to make sure everything’s in place prior to launch. Getting everything configured properly at the very beginning will save you time and effort down the road - plus it’ll make your implementation and adoption much smoother 😊

  • What is the most important thing you learned during this Launch Certification?

    • The biggest takeaways I want to apply are tips for how to communicate the benefits and what gong is/is not used for to managers and individual contributors to make them feel comfortable with Gong recording.  I also want to implement recommended best practices for a successful roll-out including the communication templates and ideas for creating champions and groundswell prior to training.

  • What is your #1 piece of advice for a new Program Manager who is implementing Gong?

    • Based on experience, if you are working with international teams, DO NOT turn on recording for those teams until you have a short, pre-training on your chosen recording consent settings.  You may want to include someone from Legal on that session to assuage international teams that everything is compliant with country-specific laws.  You also need to teach international reps/managers how to dismiss Gong notetaker if the customer/prospect is not comfortable with recording.

What is the most important thing you learned during this Launch Certification? 

I would say that the most important thing is that building consistent use is key, and Gong provides many template and schema for implementing the program at scale. A program manager build and rely on a COE to ensure that the tech is set up properly and adopted/used throughout the org.

Speak with managers to ensure that the deal boards, scorecards, streams, and library are working for them.

  1. The most important things I learned were around best practices for both how to use Gong and how to improve culture and processes as a whole to ensure a holistic path to success. As a Gong CSM, my goal is to ensure my customers are successful and there’s a lot that goes into that outside of configuring Gong the right way.
  2. My #1 piece of advice for a new PM is to generate excitement and help your team understand the value of Gong (both early on and ongoing). Of course, you’ll provide best practices and bite sized tips along the way for your team, but if you can get your team to believe in Gong enough to tinker around on their own and crowdsource innovative ways of using the platform, you’ll be better for it.

  1. The most important thing I’ve learnt has been the Sales Enablement Playbook. As a Sales Enablement Manager the playbook has been instrumental to have a step-by-step approach to ensure best practices are followed and prepare to anticipate any potential blockers. Learning about the different ways to build a coaching culture through Gong as well as holding managers accountable to do more coaching has been insightful too. 
  2. My best piece of advice to a new Program Manager would be to make sure to engage with the main stakeholders and capture the right requirement to obtain sponsorship from the top which can help drive adoption among middle management and sellers.

Gong has many features and functionality that if set up properly can really help an organization. It is important to properly launch and set up Gong to get a high level of adoption. It is important to get buy in and provide proper enablement to help everyone get the most out of it. 

What is your #1 piece of advice for a new Program Manager who is implementing Gong?

Slow down and take the time and go through all the courses.  It will make setting up Gong much easier and ensure that you are not skipping steps that are important in the process.  This will ultimately help you be more successful.

  1.  The most important thing I learned is that no matter your role or experience, there is always something new to learn about Gong! And that without enablement, Gong can really go under utilized. As technical admins we need to empower our enablement teams to the fullest to get the most impact out of Gong.

Without team collaboration and buy-in (especially Executive sponsorship and front-line manager buy-in!), you will find yourself in an uphill battle. Don’t do it alone!

Leverage the Gong community and other resources. There are so many great nuggets of information, and it’s well worth the time investment.

My advice for a new Program Manager would be to identify and engage your key stakeholders early, to lean into your power users and your executive sponsor to build buzz around your rollout, and to ensure you lead with WIIFM messaging. That will help your rollout go much more smoothly, and much faster. Gong is ultimately going to uplevel your organization - make sure people know it, and that you enlist a team to help you get that message out. Creating a CoE can also be an amazing way to scale a process and to “manage up!”

For me personally? I love how adaptable Gong is for so many unique use cases. Workspaces can solve many organizational challenges when used correctly, but so can simple saved searches or trackers. There’s a good chance you can use Gong creatively to address challenges that are unique to your sales organization.

  • My recommendation to new Program Managers considering implementing Gong is to first evaluate the maturity of your customer/organization and then slowly rollout and train on 3-5 initiatives at a time. Gong has so much to offer that new managers and executives can easily get lost in the dashboard in search of insights.

The most important thing I learned is just how incredibly powerful the Gong platform is. Having working is sale and customer success my entire career, I cant help but wish that I had had access to Gong throughout my journey. The coaching capabilities are outstanding, but what really stand out to me is Deal Boards and Forecast. Sales roles are non-stop and frequently overwhelming; the need to always keep moving makes it difficult to slow down and figure out what is actually going on. With Gong, you suddenly have the ability to see clearly and accurately even with such limited capacity.
