Thanks so much for joining our Beginners Guide To The Gong API Meetup. It was exciting to have such an engaged group ready to get using the Gong API. If you missed the meetup you can access it here. Top 3 discussion areas: Why to connect to the Gong API How to connect to the Gong API Practical use cases for getting started One attendee shared their API interest was driven by the need to stop the time consuming task of downloading and editing CSV files. Two different attendees said the API is compelling because they want Gong data in their data warehouse for further analysis and combining with other data. Resources: We shared a Postman based Gong API Starter Kit, containing the most used Gong API calls — so you can start using the API today. Fast forward to minute 9:14 in the recording to hear more on this. We showed a spreadsheet based tool called Apipheny, that allows you to pull Gong data directly into Google sheets. Hi All, Here’s the scenario:We’re looking to track interaction time of our reps on calls and see if that has an impact on whether or not the deal progress well or not. (Hypothesis: If talk ratio is less than 60% on their calls for a deal, the deal will progress well. If more than 60%, the deal won’t go anywhere) Has anyone ran into something like to and looked to generate a report in Gong and/or Salesforce? Appreciate any help with this. - James
I'm trying to determine, for all calls hosted by a CSM, what % of time the host spoke (in this case, the CSM) spoke vs. what % of time a specific attendee (the account director) spoke.I was able to create filters to search for the calls in question, but I am not seeing a way (other than clicking in to each individual call) to access this info. The best I've got so far is subtracting the "Host time spoken" from "Bazaarvoice Time Spoken" in the call download spreadsheet. But that doesn't take in to account that there may have been other company attendees on the call… Does anyone have any ideas?
When using the Gong auto-generated recap email, the email displays horizontally in the customer's inbox instead of the intended vertical format. The email is sent from Gmail and is automatically logged to Salesforce via an API integration. This formatting issue may be due to either the email formatting within Gong, the Gmail client rendering, or a conflict in the way the email is processed through the API. The issue affects the visual appearance of the email, potentially causing a poor user experience for the recipient
Would love access to a dial pad for one off calls!
When using the calls API to retrieve the records, I received an error code 400 with the error stating ‘cursor has expired’. This happens sometimes and sometimes it doesn’t. What are the possibilities that cause the cursor to expire? Does it have a time limit?
We recently switched to HubSpot a couple of weeks ago and noticed there’s no option in the Gong UI to push historical call details (like Call Brief, Key Points, and Next Steps) into our CRM.Has anyone ran across a scenario where they wanted that data and how did you go about getting that information added to Hubspot to actually be useful? Here’s what we’re looking for:Pulling historical highlights (Call Brief, Key Points, Next Steps) into HubSpot and mapping them to the right contacts, companies, or deals.
I am not sure if this is an available feature and I am just missing it, but is there a way to download transcripts from calls that only feature specific types of data? For instance, I am trying to download transcript data from calls where a specific competitor was mentioned. Is that something that can be done through a Tracker, Stream, etc.? Thank you in advance!
Is there a report or way to see which flows a person is in. I can go to the people tab and see they are in a flow but it doesn’t tell me which ones specifically.
Hi everyone! 🖐I’m a new ops-based Gong admin, looking to report on our overall usage of the platform. I’ve been to the Team Members page to see our license allocation and usage, but I’m looking for a little more than that… we want to understand how our team is using Gong and if they’re getting value from it, at the end of the day.I asked ChatGPT and it suggested a number of dashboards and reports that live in either Settings > Analytics or Analytics on the left side panel, but I don’t have Analytics in my settings, nor do I have Analytics in my left side panel either 🤷🏻I have Insights, but from there just Team, Initiatives, Market. I’m a business and technical admin, so assume I should see everything?I’m curious what other teams are reporting on related to usage and engagement and how you’re leveraging that reporting to drive better usage of Gong within your organization (and better manage your license allocation!)
I feel like I must be missing something… I’m an admin and want to see data/stats (on the Insights > Team page and elsewhere) for my entire organization - not by team, not having to select individual teams or users, I just want an option to see EVERYONE. Or at least to have a quick “select all” option so I don’t have to click team-by-team, one-by-one to add everyone. Am I missing something? We’re integrated with SF for most users, so the manager attribute is coming from there, but others are manually added (i.e. those without an SF account). I would think I could select our CEO’s team and that would include all cascading members below, but it doesn’t. I just want an easy way to look at everything at once. Ideas?
I’ve completed an extensive flow with hundreds of contacts and thousands of emails. I would now like to pull a report based on the digital interactions of the contacts, so I can focus on higher digital interaction counts. How do I pull this report?
Hey, apologies if this is mentioned before but couldn’t find.When I hit POST - Retrieve detailed call data API, it only pulls certain amount of (89) calls’ data although I haven’t specified and date, call_id etc. limitation. In the API doc it only mentions a time frequency limitation but now I’m wondering whether there’s a size limitation as well, anyone experienced a similar issue? For reference, below is how my payload looks; payload_calls = { "contentSelector": { "context": "Extended", "contextTiming": [ "Now", "TimeOfCall" ], "exposedFields": { "collaboration": { "publicComments": True }, "content": { "pointsOfInterest": True, "structure": True, "topics": True, "trackers": True }, "interaction": { "personInteractionStats": True, "questions": True, "speakers": True }, "parties": True } }, "filter": { "__callIds": [] }}
Hi! I'm new to Gong and I'm trying to use python and the API to retrieve our available data.I managed to get basic information on the calls iterating through https://api.gong.io/v2/calls, using the request package. Now I want to get all of the call's transcripts and details and I can't seem to manage. This is what I've tried:url = 'https://api.gong.io/v2/calls/transcript?callIds=<CALL_ID>'requests.get(url, auth=(<ACCESS_KEY>, <GONG_SECRET_KEY>)).json()this throws this error:{'requestId': <REQUEST_ID>, 'errors': ['Bad request']}Could you help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?Thank you!
Seems like there are some great AI solutions out there that are able to summarize quite a bit of content. I really like the transcripts in Gong, but often times wish I had a summary of the transcript of the call or a highlight of important notes. Does Gong have something like this already or is there anything in development?

Good morning, all. I’m relatively new to gong, and our company is heavy on email marketing, especially in the early stages. I wanted to see if anyone could help me understand where to find insights into our emails based on subject line, length of email, keywords, etc., so we can create reporting around what is working and what isn’t. Thank you for your help.
There are around 7533 calls which we need to download, with api data for only 100 calls is getting extracted. Could you please help me with this.
Hey, we’re using the Gong projection quite a lot in order to test the bottom up forecast of our leaders. One issue we just came across is that when comparing the sum of monthly projections within a quarter with the quarterly projection we get two completely different numbers. For example, our Q3 projection is currently 24% higher than the sum of July, August and September projection. The weighted pipeline amount is 12.5% higher, the expected deals amount 38.7% and the applied win rate on the expected deals is a whopping 13%-points higher than the average of the three single months. While I understand that there might be slight differences when aggregating the data these difference seem to be too extrem and reduces the confidence in the quarterly number, especially since the monthly projection seem to be closer to the bottom up forecast. Could someone explain where this large difference is coming from and why e.g. applied win rates are so extremely different? Thanks!

Hello friends,I was interested to see if any teams have explored decision maker personas/buying styles?e.g. a year’s worth of calls/content with one decision maker is able produce an insight into how they should be communicated with/sold toThanks in advance for any insight.
hi everyone! Our license is set to expire in 20 days and I am doing an export through the API.I already have the calls data, extensive data and the transcript data.Using the /extensive endpoint I got the URL to the calls in the following format:https://honeyfy.s3.amazonaws.com/media-data/691659890599693766/4790962246381978987/4790962246381978987.playback.mp3?xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxmy question is how I supposed to download the audio file from that link? Can anyone guide me with the code ?thanks for the help!
Gong recorded a call and one of the bullets in the Prospect Highlights pane in the Call Spotlight references a competitor the customer mentioned. The problem is it didn’t capture the name correctly and I’d like to be able to edit it with the correct name for tracking and reporting purposes. Is this possible?
I want to model out the characteristics of closed won deals. One of the metrics I am keenly interested in is the number of customer facing interactions. I am less concerned about sales cycle as I am how many touches does it take. I can see this information when I go to Account Status. I can look deal by deal for all closed won activities but this is very time consuming. What I can’t seem to find in places like insights is a roll up for all inbound email, outbound email and calls. If I can see that in aggregate by seller that would give me amazing insight for what a closed won deal looks like. That would be a massive win for me as a sales leader. Is there a way to export this data? I don’t mind doing the work in excel if I can’t get it in Gong. I am trying to upload an image the icon here doesn’t seem to want to let me add the screenshot. In short, if I go to account status I see exactly what I am after but I can’t do this across 50 deals a quarter and manually ent
